The Star of Hope Foundation (www.starofhopebg.com)
This organisation is based in Sofia, Bulgaria. Their mission is to assist in maximising the quality of life for orphans and underprivileged people.
As well as supporting the Star of Hope Brian and Polly went in July 07 (Brian for his 4th year) to help at their summer camp. Not all of the children they met at camp showed the physical scars of their lives, but each could tell their own story of abandonment, neglect or abuse. This year’s theme was “I love you just as you are” which is something these children had not often heard. Brian and Polly had a brilliant and exhausting week caring for these children.
Brian is also involved with “Christians at work” and Polly with “Christians against Poverty”.
The King’s Village (www.kingsvillage.org)
The King’s village is a Christian-based project in Northern Ghana. It is situated in the Tolon-Kumbunghu district and serves one of the poorest areas in Ghana, with local people earning on average less than 50p per day.
The King’s village addresses several root causes of disadvantage - namely lack of health care, clean water, education and training. The King’s village incorporates a school, medical centre, water and sanitation programme and vocational training.
