Community Work

1990 - 2021

Helping Nottingham based communities for over 30 years.

Welcome to Carlton Community Church.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and we trust that you found the information there helpful to you and that our website was easy to navigate.

To fulfil this we have partnered with local businesses and charities to help projects in our community.

We are actively involved in reaching out to the wider neighbourhood, where the Lord has placed us, with the Gospel, and seeing these new disciples become strong and mature Christians.

We do this through the various ministries we are involved in and honour the Bible as God’s word to us and we seek to live by this.

As you view our website, you will notice that we are involved in the mission of the Lord Jesus, both at home and abroad.

If you would like to know more information, please contact the office by either email or phone and we will get back to you.

- John and Kathy.

As a Christian Community, we are deeply committed to living out our faith according to the New Testament example (Acts 2:46).

We believe that being a church in the area of Carlton also means having a responsibility to demonstrate the love of God, to the wider community in practical ways. We believe in the true Christian values of demonstrating care and compassion.

Our History

Our church began in the early 1920’s through Arthur and Alice North. They had been raised in the traditions of the Plymouth Brethren and had a deep hunger for the Lord. The Lord led them to meet a young lady who came from a Pentecostal Church in Shirebrook and to cut a long story short, as a result of ongoing meetings with her parents, both Arthur and Alice received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Not long after that experience, they started Bible
study and prayer meetings in Carlton with a very small number of people of similar experience (about 6 in all). They met in homes for a number of years. This little gathering is believed to be the first organised gathering of Spirit filled people in Nottingham.

In 1936, this little group purchased the current site and built a church hall for the
congregation to gather and this building was refurbished in 1973.

Our church is in fellowship with Assemblies of God in the United Kingdom and is also a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

Prayer Ministry

Prophetic word.

One of the promises from the Lord we proclaim and pray into is that “We are a light set
upon a hill” and we work at this through the various things we do.

Tuesday prayer.

As a church we believe that Prayer is the engine room of the Church.

Prayer, fervent prayer is a God given gift to both the individual believer  and to the gathered Community.

Currently we pray on the first and third Tuesday of each month, 11:00AM-12 noon to pray together and believe with each other concerning various issues within people’s lives, the church, our City, nation, and the world.

Wednesday Evening Prayer

Each Wednesday evening both in the Church building and on Zoom, we read the Scriptures publicly, have a tine of Thanksgiving and Prayer. This service commences at 7:30pm and finishes at 8:30pm.

For both these prayer times, you will need to check in and you can do this by either contacting our church office or email.

Covid Practice

During this current Covid-19 pandemic we are recommencing our Sunday morning service on the 9th of August 10:30am. Children are welcome and there is a children’s group taking place. Please check in and you can do this by gong to the contacts page.

Please note: we are following COVID-19 guidance for churches issued by Her Majesty’s
Government.
